Justin Gehring (* 4. December 1904 ; † 5. August 1957 ) was a German wrestler of the Bantam weight (up to 56 kg body weight ).

At first he belonged to the Arbeiter-Athletenbund Deutschlands (AABD) and was a German national winner several times in this association. In 1926 he won the European Workers' Union Championship in Vienna . In 1925 in Frankfurt (1st Workers 'Olympics) and 1931 in Vienna (II. Workers' Olympics) he was the winner in the bantamweight wrestling (Greco-Roman style).

After the forced merger of the AABD with the German Amateur Heavy Athletics Association in 1891 (DASV v. 1891) by the National Socialists in 1933, Gehring was also German bantamweight champion in the DASV ahead of Willi Möchel , Cologne. However, the Olympic champions Jakob Brendel (1932) and Kurt Leucht (1928) did not take part. In 1934 he was 5th winner of the German bantamweight championship. At the European Championships in the Greco-Roman style in Rome in 1934 he finished fourth after victories over Hjelt (Finland), M. Kurland (Denmark) and Nizzola (Italy) and a point defeat against Thuvesson (Sweden). In 1936 he was again German bantamweight champion with victories over Brendel and Johannes Herbert from Stuttgart, but was only nominated as a substitute wrestler for the Olympic Games in Berlin . How strong Gehring was this year is shown by the fact that both Brendel and Herbert won medals at these Olympic Games. In 1940 and 1941 he was 3rd winner at the German championships and 2nd winner in 1942, both in the bantamweight division.
