Massive Wagons is a British rock band from Carnforth in northern England . It was founded in 2009 by singer Barry Mills and guitarist Adam Thistlethwaite, who had previously played with the indie rock band Ace Face. Against the background of the success of bands like Airbourne and Black Stone Cherry , the musicians decided to build their own rock band. The line-up was completed with Adam's brother Alex Thistlethwaite on drums as well as rhythm guitarist Carl Cochrane and bassist Adam Bouskill.
history
With more than 100 performances a year, the band quickly gained the reputation of an excellent live band. In 2011 the debut album Fire It Up was released by Casket Music. In 2013, Massive Wagons won the HRH Highway to Hell Competition , a competition for up-and-coming bands as part of the Hard Rock Hell Festival in North Wales, thereby gaining a record deal with Off Yer Rocka. The label released the album Fight the System in 2014 , which brought the band attention in the rock scene but little commercial success. This was followed in 2015 by the compilation The Good the Bad and the Ugly , consisting of live recordings and unreleased pieces. In April 2016, the third studio album, Welcome to the World, was released. This was followed by numerous festival appearances in Great Britain and a tour as the opening act for The Wildhearts .
In 2017, Earache Records became aware of the band and signed them at the end of the year. In March 2018, Massive Wagons went on a self-organized tour through Great Britain, a little later Under No Illusion was released as a pre-release single of the fourth studio album. In June 2018 the band performed at the Download Festival . Finally, Full Nelson was released in August 2018 , reaching number 16 on the UK album charts .
