Mastura Ardalan ( Kurdish Mestûre Erdelan ; * 1805 in Sanandadsch ; † 1848 ; full name Mah Sharaf Khanom Mastoureh Ardalan ) was a Kurdish poet and writer from Iran .

Life

Mastura Ardalan was born in Senna and grew up in Sulaimaniyya . She was a member of the feudal aristocracy in the Principality of Ardalan . She studied Kurdish , Arabic and Persian under the guidance of her father Abolhasan Beig Qadiri. Her husband was Khasraw Khani Ardalan, the prince of Ardalan. After the death of her husband, the principality of Ardalan was very vulnerable and was incorporated into the central state by the Qajars in the 18th century . Mastura Ardalan and her family fled to the Baban , while their son Reza Qulikhan was captured by the Qajars.

Effect and honor

She wrote several books on poetry, history and literature. She wrote mainly in Hewramani or Gorani and in Persian. Mastura Ardalan is considered the only female historian in the Middle East until the 19th century. She wrote e.g. B. on the history of the Principality of Ardalan. Her 200th birthday was celebrated from December 11th to 15th, 2005 with a festival in Hewlêr . A statue of her was unveiled there.
