Matchball für die Liebe is a television series for young people that portrays life in the "Cascadia" tennis academy.
The series
In the sports boarding school "Cascadia" young tennis players are encouraged. The training is aimed at the elite class and is geared accordingly. The students are still in puberty and actually have completely different worries - about friendship, envy, forbidden pleasures such as chocolate and first love. And the grades of the normal school subjects also have to be mastered. That's a lot for the few years until growing up; conflicts are inevitable. But despite all the problems, the protagonists also find time to enjoy their lives.
In addition to Canada itself, the series is shown in various countries such as France, Holland, Italy and Germany. The children's channel / KI.KA acquired the broadcasting rights for Germany , but so far only the first 26 episodes have been broadcast. In Austria the series runs on ORF 1 .
production
Match ball for love is produced by “Galafilm Inc.” / Canada in coproduction with “Marathon SA” / France for the Canadian youth broadcaster “YTV”. The studios are located in St. Césaire, Québec / Canada .
The production was overshadowed by a tragic accident.
The accident
Course of events
During the filming of Season 1 on September 8, 2003, the car with the actors Jaclyn Linetsky and Vadim Schneider (both 17 years old) crashed on the way to the film studio. The minivan got out of control and hit the oncoming traffic head-on. Both young actors died instantly.
processing
At the time of the accident, episode 11 was finished. In order to justify the elimination of the characters "Megan" and "Sébastien", both of them go on a fictional tournament trip to Europe in episode 13. The plane crashes and all passengers are killed. The students of "Cascadia" now have to deal with the loss of their classmates. This enables an appropriate mourning for the deceased actors in the series.
