The Eberswalde materials testing institute emerged from a state office in the state of Brandenburg ; until 2005 it was called the Brandenburg materials testing office . A materials testing institute has the task of carrying out tests of substances, products, systems and processes in the public interest with the aim of protecting the general public against dangers and supporting the economy in quality assurance. The MPA Eberswalde is an independent test laboratory and has no superior or subordinate relationship. It is a member of the Association of Material Testing Institutes and is accredited by the DAkkS .

The MPA Eberswalde has its headquarters on the grounds of the forest campus of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development on the southern outskirts of Eberswalde and operates a test field in the Eberswalde city forest.
history
After 1992, the MPA began operating as a materials testing office on the city campus of what was then the Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences. The main points were official material testing for the domestic economy, participation in standardization work and research and development in the field of material testing.
tasks
The MPA Eberswalde mainly tests wood and wood-based materials as well as wood preservatives and food. It carries out effectiveness tests of wood preservatives for the German Institute for Quality Assurance and Labeling as well as the German Institute for Structural Engineering and other approval bodies according to all recognized mycological and entomological methods. The MPA assesses damage to wooden structures and constructions and determines the pathogens and causes. Upon customer request, control measures are monitored, reports on the effectiveness of wood preservatives and gaseous material emissions such as formaldehyde and VOC are examined .
