Mathias Höschel

Mathias Edwin Höschel (born March 29, 1967 in Meerbusch ) is a German orthodontist and politician ( CDU ). In 2017 he was a member of the German Bundestag for just under a year .

Life and work

Mathias Edwin Höschel was born and raised in Meerbusch . After graduating from high school, he studied dentistry in Aachen , which he completed in 1991 with the state examination. In 1999 he successfully passed the specialist dentist examination for orthodontics at the University Hospital Frankfurt .

In addition to his specialist medical training, Mathias Höschel completed a degree in business administration at the IWW Institute of the Fernuniversität Hagen from 2009 to 2011.

Together with his wife he runs an orthodontic practice with locations in Düsseldorf , Meerbusch and Mönchengladbach .

He is also the board spokesman of the Orthodontic Interest Group (KFO-IG) and board member and chairman of the supervisory board of PVS.

politics

At the age of 15 he joined the student union , and in 1986 he switched to the Junge Union . After joining the party in 2000, he became a member of the medium-sized and business association of the CDU / CSU (MIT) in Düsseldorf .

In line with his professional background, Dr. Höschel focuses on health policy. In 2004 he was co-founder of the health policy working group of the NRW-CDU, of which he is chairman of the board. Because of this position, he is a guest on the NRW state executive committee of the CDU. In addition, Mathias Höschel has been a member of the CDU's Federal Health and Care Committee since 2008.

On December 7, 2016, Höschel became a member of the 18th German Bundestag as the successor to the late Peter Hintze ( CDU ) . He was a full member of the Defense Committee and the Tourism Committee. For the 2017 federal election , Höschel ran without a constituency in 56th place on the CDU's state list in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was not enough to return to the Bundestag.
