The Mathias Point is a headland near the southeast end of Montagu Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It is 2.5 km north of Allen Point .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1971 after Lieutenant W. A. Mathias (* 1938) of the Royal Navy , helicopter pilot on a flight from HMS Protector to explore the South Sandwich Islands in 1964.
