Mathias Scheben

Mathias Scheben (born September 11, 1945 in Bonn ) is a German PR consultant and non-fiction author .

He has published numerous specialist articles on corporate communications issues. As a communications consultant, he advises companies, institutions and private individuals and gives lectures and workshops on corporate communications. He had received lectureships for public relations at the universities of Leipzig and Bamberg.

Life

Scheben graduated from the Ruhr University in Bochum with a degree in economics in 1971 . He began his professional career in 1972 as a researcher at the business magazine Capital in Cologne and after six months changed to the editorial office, where he worked as a journalist until the end of 1978. Among other things, a series on issues relating to professional advancement was created during this time, which was published in 12 Capital issues and later published in book form.

From January 1979, Scheben headed the communications agency SchebenPR founded by him and his wife, which in 1994 (according to him) was Germany's first owner-managed PR agency with a certificate according to ISO DIN EN 9001 . Scheben then completed a qualification measure to become a quality management consultant at the Bad Harzburg Academy . Scheben left the consulting company he founded in 2009. He then worked until the end of 2017 as a freelance communications consultant and as a sworn expert for advisory and design services in corporate communications . From 2009 to March 2012 he was a. a. Press spokesman for Trimet Aluminum AG in Essen. He continues to work as a coach, communications consultant, reviewer and author.

Scheben was a board member of the Society for Public Relations Agencies (GPRA) from 1991 to 1993 and from 1993 to 1997 a member of the German Council for Public Relations DRPR , the ethics committee of the PR industry (afterwards as a personal member). From 1994 to 1997 he was on the DPRG board.

After the death of his wife, Scheben founded the Uschi-Scheben Children's Fund, which supported socially disadvantaged children and young people from 1990 to 2010. Scheben has been married for a second time since 1990 and has two daughters and five grandchildren.
