Gerard Leene

Gerard Leene (born October 3, 1892 in The Hague , † September 26, 1966 in Rotterdam ) was a Dutch track cyclist .

In 1917 Gerard Leene became the Dutch champion in scratch . Two years later he won the national championship in the professional sprint for the first time , which he achieved three more times in 1926, 1928 and 1933. In addition, he took numerous podium places in other national championships and Grand Prix races.

Leene came from a cycling family: his four brothers were also racing cyclists ; Bernard Leene won the gold medal in the tandem race at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam .
