Matilde Camus

Aurora Matilde Gómez Camus (partly also listed as Camús ; born September 26, 1919 in Santander , Cantabria ; † April 28, 2012 there ) was a Spanish poet and writer .

Life

Camus was the daughter of Francisco Gómez Landeras and Matilde Camus del Villar. Her mother died less than a month after she was born and the older housekeeper took care of the child. She attended the Colegio de San José and then the Instituto de Santa Clara for seven years , where she graduated in language and literature. In 1943 she married Justo Guisández García in Santander and gave birth to four children (Justo Francisco, Francisco Javier, Matilde and Miguel Ángel). In 1969 she began writing with the help of her former teacher, Professor Gerardo Diego. She wrote numerous biographies and lyric texts.

She died just three weeks after her husband died.
