Mats Bergman [ ˈbærjman ] (born May 5, 1948 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish actor.

Life

He is the son of Ingmar Bergman and Ellen Bergman (nee Lundström), the twin brother of Anna, the brother of Eva (* 1945) and Jan Bergman (* 1946), and the half-brother of Lena Bergman (* 1943), Maria von Rosen (* 1959), Daniel Bergman (* 1962) and the author Linn Ullmann (* 1966).

Mats Bergman graduated from the Stockholm Drama School in 1971. He is a busy popular film and television actor in Sweden; he is also a member of the Royal Dramatic Theater ( Dramaten ) in Stockholm, where his father directed until his death in 2007.

Mats Bergman is known to German television audiences as the forensic technician Nyberg in the 32-part Degeto crime series Mankells Wallander , which was specially written for television and broadcast by ARD in 2006. This should not be confused with the full-length Wallander films with Rolf Lassgård in the title role, which ZDF has been producing for years in co-production with Swedish Television (SVT) based on the novel by Henning Mankell .
