The Hallmann Dome is an event hall in Gutheil-Schoder-Gasse in the 10th Viennese district of Favoriten . The hall has been named “Hallmann Dome” since 2014, based on the Hallmann Vienna basketball club , which has its home there and whose main sponsor is the investor Klemens Hallmann . Originally the name was "Matsumae Budocenter" and for a while also "Admiral Dome".

history

The building was built at the suggestion of Shigeyoshi Matsumae from 1983 to 1984 as a sports center for Japanese martial arts based on plans by Franz Richard Schnabel. It was called the Budokan-Europacenter , Budocenter or Matsumae Budocenter . The building has an octagonal shape and a Japanese roof. The property was made available by the municipality of Vienna free of charge. The construction costs were taken over by the Japanese Tōkai University .
