The Matsumoto Seichō Memorial Museum ( Japanese 北九州 市立 松本清張 記念 館 , Kitakyūshū-shiritsu Matsumoto Seichō Kinenkan ) is a literary museum in Kitakyūshū , Japan . It collects and exhibits materials about the Japanese writer Matsumoto Seichō and provides information about his literary work. The Literature Museum is located next to Kokura Castle .
Overview
The museum opened in 1998 in Kitakyūshū, where Matsumoto Seichō spent about 40 years in the first half of his life. The library and the reception room of the writer, called "Castle of Thought and Creation", are exhibited in the museum. They were relocated from the Suginami District of Tokyo , where he spent the second half of his life.
The museum also has the role of a research center in relation to Matsumoto Seichō and publishes the research journal annually. It received the Kikuchi Kan Prize in 2008 for its research activities.
