Matt Hemingway

Matt Hemingway (born October 24, 1972 in San Pedro , Los Angeles , California ) is an American high jumper .

In 2000 he was US indoor champion with a jump of 2.38 m. At the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis, he finished twelfth.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he won the silver medal behind Stefan Holm (SWE) and ahead of Jaroslav Bába (CZE) with his best outdoor performance of 2.34 m .

In 2005 he became US champion. The foot injury he sustained hampered him at the World Championships in Helsinki , where he only came in eleventh place.

Matt Hemingway has a competition weight of 81 kg with a height of 1.98 m. His grandfather was a cousin of the writer Ernest Hemingway .
