Matthew Letley (born March 29, 1961 in Gillingham , Kent , Great Britain ) is a British drummer and longtime member of the rock group Status Quo .

Life

Letley started playing the drums at the age of six. At the age of 12 he played in his first band "Sindelfingen". After several years as a drummer in various gala bands and with the “London Youth Jazz Orchestra”, he joined the band “ Flint ” in 1978 and signed his first record deal. After five years, two albums and countless appearances, he left the band to work independently as a studio and live drummer. He toured with Kim Wilde , Bob Geldof , A-ha , David Essex , Vanessa Mae and Hank Marvin , among others .

Matt Letley has played as a permanent member of Status Quo since 2000. However, on December 17, 2012, he announced that he would be leaving the band.
