Snowy White (real name: Terence Charles White ; born March 3, 1948 in Barnstaple , Devon / England ) is a British blues and rock guitarist.

biography

Inspired by BB King , Buddy Guy and Otis Rush , White steered his own way of blues in the 1960s , which he continued to refine together with his friend and jam partner Peter Green (founder of the band Fleetwood Mac ). White usually plays a Gibson Les Paul . In the 1970s and 1980s, White worked with the band Pink Floyd . Although he was not part of the band, he was invited to world tours and concerts. For the studio album Animals he played the connecting solo between the two parts of " Pigs on the Wing "; this version was initially only released as an 8-track cassette .

Snowy White also worked with Thin Lizzy and was a permanent member of the group in the early 1980s. He participated in the albums Chinatown and Renegade - the latter he contributed the title track in collaboration with singer and bassist Phil Lynott - and as a guest on the album Live Life . In the mid-80s, White then pursued his own goals and used his time as a solo artist. During this time albums such as Snowy White or White Flames with the hit "Bird of Paradise" were created.

In 1990 he worked with Roger Waters and played on his The Wall spectacle on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin . Another collaboration took place at the 1992 Expo concert in Seville in “Guitar Legends”. He then produced the songs he had written over the past few years. This album was Highway to the Sun . In the 1990s, White founded his own band, The White Flames, with Juan van Emmerloot and Walter Latupeirissa . With this three albums were created: No Faith Required 1996, Little Wing 1998 and Keep Out: We Are Toxic 1999. In 1999 Snowy White again accompanied Roger Waters on the US tour In The Flesh . This was so successful that they went on tour in the States again in the summer of 2000. During this time they recorded the live album and made the film about the show. Snowy White was still part of the Waters tour band, who were on a world tour with Pink Floyd's The Wall from 2010 to 2014 .

Another White Flames album called Restless was released in May 2002. In the same year, Snowy White went on a world tour with Roger Waters. In spring 2005 he produced the CD The Way It Is with the White Flames . This time with the formation of four: Richard Bailey, Walter Latupeirissa and Max Middleton. Snowy White and "The White Flames" were also touring Europe in 2005 and 2006 to present this album to a wide audience, with the DVD The Way It Is - Live being made. From April to October 2006 Snowy White toured Europe and America with Roger Waters. Then he made several appearances in England and the rest of Europe with his band "The White Flames".

From April to June 2008 Snowy White toured again with Roger Waters and also appeared with him at the Live Earth concert. In October of that year he formed a new band called The Snowy White Blues Project , whose debut album was released in April 2009. Band members were besides Snowy White also Matt Taylor (The Motives, Boom Band), Roy Martin on drums, Ruud Weber on bass, and Juan van Emmerloot. In 2011 he reactivated his band The White Flames and released the album Realistic , in 2012 the DVD After Paradise by Snowy White and Friends was released . It contains a recording of a concert on September 16, 2011, at which White was supported by companions from his bands Blues Agency , The White Flames and Snowy White's Blues Project .

Snowy White played with the following musicians, among others: Linda Lewis , Chris Rea , Phil Lynott , Gary Moore , Pink Floyd , Peter Green , Thin Lizzy , David Gilmour , Roger Waters and Richard Wright .
