Matt Wenstrom

Matthew William Wenstrom (born November 4, 1970 ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

The 2.16 meter tall indoor player was a member of the University of North Carolina (UNC) college team from 1989 to 1993 . During this time he studied political science and history. Wenstrom was used in 119 games for “UNC” (points average: 1.6 per match). His teammates included the German Henrik Rödl , Rick Fox and Derrick Phelps . Wenstrom was Rödl's roommate. In 1993 Wenstrom won the championship title in the first NCAA division with North Carolina . During the championship year he scored an average of 2.5 points per game in 33 games.

After the end of his university days Wenstrom was not included in the NBA draft process in 1993  , but he still managed to jump into the best league in the world. In the 1993/94 season he played eleven games for the Boston Celtics and scored an average of 1.6 points per encounter.

In the 1994/95 season, Wenstrom was under contract with Trodat Wels in the Austrian Bundesliga. In 1995 he was hired by the German Bundesliga club TuS Herten (later renamed Ruhr Devils when they moved to Oberhausen ). In the 1996/97 season, Donald Williams was one of his teammates in Herten , with whom Wenstrom had already played at the University of North Carolina. Wenstrom played for the Ruhr Devils until February 1998. He finished his career and worked in the US in banking, then for companies that help companies reorganize.
