Matthew Long (rower)

Matthew Long (born June 27, 1975 in Sydney ) is a former Australian rower .

Athletic career

The 1.94 m wide Matthew Long took in 1997 with the coxless four at the Nations Cup and won the silver medal.

At the 1999 World Championships , Australians Drew Ginn and James Tomkins won the two-man title without a helmsman . In 2000 the two won the World Cup regatta in Vienna. Before the World Cup in Lucerne, Drew Ginn fell out with a back injury and Matthew Long jumped in at short notice, Long and Tomkins won the regatta in Lucerne. At the 2000 Olympic Games , the French two-man won in front of the boat from the United States, Long and Tomkins received the bronze medal. 2001 Long entered the eighth at the World Championships and finished seventh.
