Matthias Ballod (born November 14, 1966 in Zweibrücken ) is a German linguist and didactic specialist in German with a focus on comprehensibility research, digital media in teaching and learning contexts, AI in education, corpus linguistics and information economics . Since 2011 he has been a professor in the field of "Didactics of German Language and Literature" at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg .

Life

Matthias Ballod studied German and sport until 1994 to become a teacher for special education at the University of Cologne and graduated with the first state examination. He then did his doctorate until 1999 in linguistics with the minor subjects of pedagogy and psychology on the subject of “computer-aided corpus analysis of popular science books on genetic engineering”. In 2005 he completed his habilitation in language and media didactics in the area of ​​knowledge transfer, knowledge management and information skills .

From 1996 to 2005 Matthias Ballod worked as an assistant at the chair for "Empirical Language Didactics" (Hans Messelken) at the University of Cologne . Subsequently, from 2005 to 2009, he was employed as a research assistant in the “General Didactics” department of the Institute for “Integrative Education” at the University of Koblenz-Landau . Between 2006 and 2007 Ballod took over the representation of the chair “Germanistic Media Didactics / Language Didactics” in the department “Language, Literature, Culture” at the Justus-Liebig University in Gießen .

From 2008 to 2010 Matthias Ballod took over the representation of the chair “Didactics of German Language and Literature” in the German Institute of Philosophical Faculty II at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , which he has held permanently since 2011. Between 2010 and 2015 he was also Professor of German Studies at the private University for Marketing and Foreign Language (WSZMiJO) in Katowice (PL).
