Matthias Berning

Matthias Berning (born September 22, 1986 in Duisburg ) is a former German football player .

career

Berning attended the Mercator high school in Duisburg. As an exchange student, he played football at Mexico High School in the US state of Missouri in 2003 . From 2005 to 2007 he played for the Düsseldorf Panther in the GFL . He won the bronze medal with the German national team at the 2007 World Cup. From 2007 to 2010 he played as a linebacker at Central Michigan University in the United States. In late July 2011, he was signed by the NFL team New York Jets . He suffered a concussion during training, and at the beginning of September he was removed from the squad to join the training squad the following day. He was removed from this in mid-September, before he was again a week's training player in the Jets later in the month. In December 2011, the New York team wanted to sign him again, but that failed because Berning did not get the work permit for the USA in the short time.

In mid-January 2012, he received a contract from the Jets that gave the team priority access to the German, and in June his contract was canceled. He did not play a game in the NFL.

Berning, who studied business administration , worked for an asset management company in the Chicago area .
