Matthias Haag

Matthias Haag (born November 15, 1977 in Karlsruhe ) is a German filmmaker .

Matthias Haag studied German Philology, Philosophy, Media & Communication Studies at the University of Mannheim from 1999 to 2003 . After he had his first experiences behind the camera with the short film Café or Tea? He made the two short films Frederiks Welt (2002) and Love Me 2 The End (2003), each with Janna Horstmann in the leading role.

He broke off his studies in Mannheim in order to start training as a film and communication designer in Esslingen in 2004. With his graduation film Coppelius , he took part in the 168h Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2008, where the film was nominated for awards in 11 categories and ultimately won the awards for Best Cinemathography , Best International Film and a Special Jury Award For CGI . In the same year Coppelius was seen at the 61st Cannes Film Festival as part of the Shortfilm Corner program.

After completing his training, Matthias Haag founded Urwerk Filmproduktion in 2008 , and in 2009 filming began on the first English-language full-length feature film, the low-budget production Falkenstein, and filming the historical documentary Bachem Ba 349 Natter in co-production with Vision Unlimited . Falkenstein remained unsuccessful except for a DVD release in 2010 in Thailand and Vietnam. The Natter project was one of the most frequently broadcast documentaries on N-TV in 2013 and has been running regularly on ZDFinfo since 2014 under the title Natter - The Nazis' Secret Weapon .

In 2010, the shooting of another 90-minute film also started, the horror lasher Sin Reaper 3D , a co-production by Fairground Media, GenerationXGroup GmbH and Urwerk Filmproduktion. Hollywood professional Lance Henriksen was able to guest star for the role of Dr. Hoffmann to be won. The cast also included Patrick J. Thomas , Hanno Friedrich from the Sat.1 Comedy Six-Pack , Nikolai Tegeler and Grimme Prize winner Alexander Kiersch . The film found distributors in Japan, USA, Germany and Benelux, where it was released on DVD (Germany also Bluray).

From 2011, Matthias Haag shifted the main business of Urwerk film production to the areas of image film and advertising film .
