Matthias Lang (born May 22, 1977 in Antony ) is a French vaulting artist . He is two-time world and European champion in men's singles .
Career
Lang began vaulting at the age of 11 and initially did gymnastics in the team with which he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1995. In the same year, due to the age restriction for group vaulters at the time, he switched to individual vaulting and joined the Institut national du sport et de l'éducation physique (INSEP) in Paris, where he trained until 2003. After completing his training as a physiotherapist and winning the second European Championship title, Lang announced the end of his vaulting career in 2003, but returned to competitive sport after spending some time abroad in 2004.
