Matthias Nerlich (born September 4, 1972 in Gifhorn ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and mayor of the city of Gifhorn.

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Nerlich did his military service in Leer and Wesendorf and then began studying law in Hanover. In 2000 he obtained his first state examination in law and was then personal advisor to the Bundestag member Heinrich-Wilhelm Ronsöhr until his election to the state parliament .

politics

Nerlich has been a member of the CDU since 1991. He is chairman of the Gifhorn district association. From 1996 to 2011 he was councilor and from 2001 to 2011 mayor of the municipality of Leiferde . He was also a member of the Meinersen Samtgemeinde council from 2001 to 2011 . From 2003 on, Nerlich was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . When he was elected mayor of Gifhorn in 2011, he resigned his state parliament mandate on November 9, 2011; for him moved Rainer Beckmann (CDU) to the parliament.
