Matthias Spaetgens

Matthias Spaetgens (born June 5, 1973 in Trier ) is Chief Creative Officer and Partner of Scholz & Friends and Professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria.

biography

Spaetgens has been with Scholz & Friends since 1997 . Since 2004 he is u. a. responsible for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung campaign “ There's always a clever head behind it ” . According to Der Spiegel, the campaign is considered the "campaign of the century" and one of the most award-winning campaigns in Germany.

From 2007 to 2009 he attended the international Berlin School of Creative Leadership, from which he graduated with an Executive MBA. Since 2010 he has been leading the class for graphics and advertising (class for ideas) at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He succeeded Walter Lürzer in this function .

For the death of Vicco von Bülow, alias Loriot, he wrote the obituary notice in 2011 with the words "Dear God, have fun."

Spaetgens was a member of the film jury of the Cannes Lions , D&AD and Clio. In 2017 he was president of the jury of the Creativ Club Austria .

In 2009 he was the best creative director in the world (according to the Big Won Report).
