Matthias Sträßner

Matthias Sträßner (born February 22, 1952 in Stuttgart ) is a German dramaturge . From November 1989 to February 2015 he headed the main department for culture at Deutschlandfunk .

Life

Sträßner graduated from high school in Stuttgart in 1970. He completed his studies in German, philosophy and history at the University of Stuttgart until 1978 with a doctorate to become a Dr. phil. from.

From 1980 to 1983 he was Wolfgang Gönnenwein's personal advisor at the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival , which at the time had been upgraded to a broader program as the Baden-Württemberg International Festival , and was its managing director until 1989. From 1986 to 1989 he was also artistic advisor to the general manager of the Stuttgart State Theater .

From November 1989 to February 2015, Sträßner was head of the main culture department at Deutschlandfunk. From 1992 to 2001 he was also managing director of Deutschlandfunk - later DeutschlandRadio - Marketing GmbH. Since 1999 he has represented Deutschlandradio on the board of trustees of the Rundfunk-Orchester und -Chöre gGmbH . He retired on February 28, 2015.

Together with others, including Wolf Werth from Deutschlandfunk, he was awarded the Silver Hemisphere Monument Protection Prize by the German National Committee for Monument Protection in Saarbrücken in 2004.
