Maurício José Cardoso

Maurício José Cardoso (* December 17, 1880 - October 13, 1968 ) was a Brazilian officer, most recently between 1943 and 1944 in the rank of major general chief of the army.

Life

Cardoso completed an officer training in the army ( Exército Brasileiro ) of the armed forces (Forças Armadas do Brasil) and subsequently found various uses as an officer and staff officer. He was commander of the 7th Military Region (7.ª Região Militar) between October 26 and November 5, 1930 and later from September 1 to December 13, 1937, commander of the 4th Brigade. Between 1939 and January 9, 1943 he was commander of the 2nd military region (2.ª Região Militar) and from January 9 to December 21, 1943, commander of the 1st military region (1.ª Região Militar) .

Cardoso was last on December 17, 1943 with the rank of Major General Chief of the Army General Staff and held this position until December 15, 1944, whereupon Major General Cristóvão de Castro Barcelos succeeded.
