Maurice Gransart

Maurice Gransart (born July 8, 1930 in Marseille - † April 27, 2013 ) was a French football player .

Career

Gransart began playing football in his hometown of Marseille in 1938. He ran one after the other for the amateur teams PSC Marseille , CS Marseille and Crédit Lyonnais Marseille before he signed in 1948 with the first division club Olympique Marseille . He made his debut in professional football when he ran up on April 14, 1949 at the age of 18 in the 4-2 victory against FC Metz in the top French division. The 176 centimeter tall footballer had to wait for another appearance until September 1951, but made the jump to the regular player on the right side of the defense a little later. With Marseille he made it to the national cup final in 1954 ; the player played in the final, even if he could not avert the 2-1 defeat against OGC Nice .

In the same year he turned down an offer from RC Paris and decided to stay with his club. At the end of the 1955/56 season, France Football magazine recognized Grasnart as the best right-back in the league; But he never made it to the national team. The professional stayed loyal to his club when Marseille were relegated to the second division in 1959. After a last game on May 21, 1962 in a 2-0 win against CA Paris , Grasnart ended his career at the age of 31 after 231 first division games with four goals and 28 second division games with one goal; he had previously missed the promotion with his team. The son of Maurice, who died in 2013, took up the same profession with Roland Gransart and also worked as a trainer.
