Maurice Henry Dorman

Sir Maurice Henry Dorman ( August 7, 1912 - October 26, 1993 ) was a British diplomat . He was Governor General of the British Royalty in Tanzania , Trinidad and Tobago , Sierra Leone and Malta .

Career

Dorman was born in 1912 as the eldest son of John Ehrenfried Dorman and Madeleine Louise Bostock. His parents both came from wealthy business families in Stafford City . His mother was a magistrate and one of the first female dentists. Dorman graduated from Cambridge University .

From 1956 to 1962 he served in Sierra Leone, for which he was knighted in 1957 . From April 27, 1961 (Sierra Leone's Independence Day) to April 27, 1962 he was Governor General of Sierra Leone. From July 2, 1962 he was governor of Malta until independence on September 21, 1964, after which he was governor-general of this state until July 4, 1971.

He was a Knight of the Grand Cross of the Maltese Order of Merit.
