Mauricio Sabillón (born November 11, 1978 in Quimistán, Santa Bárbara Department , Honduras ) is a former Honduran football player . The national player has been under contract with CD Marathón for almost his entire career .

Career

Sabillón began his career with CD Marathón, where he played for over ten years from 1999 and was one of the most consistent and best players. His performances soon earned him a call to the Honduran senior team, where he also performed well. Under national coach Reinaldo Rueda , the right-back developed into a regular player with exceptional offensive qualities. In qualifying for the 2010 World Cup , however, Sabillón sometimes had to let other players take precedence in the starting line-up, depending on the game and the situation within the team.

In early 2010, the winger player was loaned to the Chinese club Hangzhou Greentown , but this endangered his participation in the World Cup. Ultimately, however, Rueda did not want to do without this fast and tech-savvy player, which is why he was appointed to the Honduras World Cup squad. After a year he returned to Marathon, where he played until his retirement in 2017.
