Maurizio Del Freo

Maurizio Del Freo (* in the 20th century) is an Italian classical philologist , mycenaeologist and epigraphist .

Del Freo is a research assistant at the Istituto di Studi sul Mediterraneo Antico , Rome , which in 2013 resulted from the merger of the Istituto di Studi sulle Civiltà Italiche e del Mediterraneo Antico (ISCIMA) with the Istituto di Studi sulle Civiltà dell'Egeo e del Vicino Oriente (ICEVO ) emerged. He is involved in numerous scientific projects on mykenology, including the edition of the text corpus of the Linear B tablets newly found in Thebes by Vassilis L. Aravantinos .

Del Freo works on the cultures and the writing systems of the Aegean Sea , Crete ( Cretan hieroglyphs , Linear A , Linear B ) and Cyprus in the 2nd millennium BC. BC, in particular to the Mycenaean palace economy , the possession of land and the craft .
