Research priorities

From 1993 to 1995 about 250 Linear B tablets were discovered by Aravantinos in the course of a rescue excavation in Pelopidou Street and the Arsenal in Thebes . They make up about 5% of the entire Linear B text corpus of all sites. In 1996, a few more tablets were discovered in a museum among the finds from an excavation from 1963–1964. Three of the four originally planned volumes on the new texts were published by Aravantinos in collaboration with Louis Godart and Anna Sacconi and other collaborators from 2001 to 2005.

In 2011, Aravantinos received the Athens Academy Prize for his book on the Thebes Archaeological Museum .
