Kadmeia
In ancient Greece, the Kadmeia was the flat hill named after Kadmos , the mythical founder of Thebes , on which the upper town ( acropolis ) of Thebes had been located at least since the Late Helladic . The hill was inhabited as early as the Early Helladic (3rd millennium BC).
The occupation of Kadmeia by Spartan troops under Phoibidas in 382 BC. BC triggered a series of wars between the two cities and their allies, which ended Sparta's hegemony over Greece and established Thebes' brief domination.
