Life

Ponzi worked from 1963 to the end of the decade for "Filmcritica", "Cinema 60", " Cahiers du Cinéma ", "Avant-Scène" and "Cinema e Film" on cinema works. In 1966 and 1967 he made three documentaries about important Italian directors ( Pier Paolo Pasolini , Roberto Rossellini and Luchino Visconti ) and made his debut as a film director with the television-produced, experimental Stefano Jr. the following year, who portrays the everyday life of a young worker . This was followed by two works that were unusual for the cinema landscape at the time, I visionari (“Golden Leopard” at the Locarno Film Festival ) and Equinozio . With the exception of Il caso Raoul in 1974, Ponzi then returned to television work (mostly reports and documentaries) until he began a steady career in cinema in 1982, in which he often brought funny forms of everyday observation to the screen with Francesco Nuti , but later also serious ones Topics covered. In 2000 Ponzi made the television series Il bello del donne . His work is classified as a balancing act between craft and art, which, often underestimated by critics, is interesting and successful.
