Francesco Nuti

Francesco Nuti (born May 17, 1955 in Prato ) is an Italian actor , film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Nuti began acting as an amateur and was discovered as a student by the comedian duo Alessandro Benvenuti and Athina Cenci , with whom he formed the troupe "I Giancattivi". The trio's success also led to numerous television appearances on programs such as "Non stop", "La sberla" and "Black Out". The anti-conformist and surreal comedy of the three protagonists was also transferred to the screen in 1981: Ad ovest di Paperino was a cinematic success and was highly praised by critics. Nevertheless, Nuti decided to continue his career with solo appearances and shot a Tuscan trilogy with director Maurizio Ponzi , in which Nuti embodied a completely different character than usual, which the audience honored. In addition to his acting, Nuti also appeared as a singer and released two LPs, including one with songs from his films.

The following, now self-directed films, showed Nuti's ability to create and portray a character typical of his generation, which he psychologically disclosed and further developed, which brought further great audiences with it; over the years, however, this also led to something banal. His attempt to escape this (with Occhio Pinocchio ) was viewed by critics and viewers as a shipwreck and heavily criticized; Nuti's subsequent attempts to return to the origins were no longer successful and were viewed as recycling his figures.

The failures drove Nuti, whose formerly novel comedy, interspersed with personal narrative forms, had worn out, into depression and alcoholism. He tried a comeback as an actor in 2005 with Concorso di colpa .

After a domestic accident on September 2, 2006, he was in a coma until the end of November this year. Since then, Nuti has been heavily drawn and can no longer speak; a television appearance in January 2011, during which he visibly suffered, led to a lively discussion about the limits and permissibility of such public representations.

In 2010 a documentary about Nuti appeared, on which his brother had also worked; With this he published a new song on the Internet in 2013, Olga tu mi fai morir .
