Athina Cenci

Athina Cenci (born March 13, 1946 in Kos , Greece ) is an Italian theater and film actress and cabaret artist .

Life

In the mid-1970s, Cenci and Alessandro Benvenuti founded the drama group "Giancattivi" (to which Francesco Nuti also belonged for a time) and took part with this ensemble in the television programs Black out and La sberla (both 1978), in which they show their caustic and surreal comedy could. Her movie debut was also directed by her companion Benvenuti, when she played the role of Marta in the surreal comedy Ad ovest di Paperino .

She then stepped u. a. in Mario Monicellis Let's Hope It's a Girl (1986) and Schoolmates (1988) by Carlo Verdone . For her portrayal, she was awarded a David di Donatello in the category Best Supporting Actress. Her 1989 television debut in Emilio gave her the chance to mix her comical streak with seriousness as she played an uncompromising editor-in-chief. Numerous appearances as a guest star on television, with stage programs published on video and in sitcoms such as I vicini di casa followed. Cenci was also on the theater stage until the end of the millennium in plays e.g. B. by Lina Wertmüller , Fabio Maraschi and Walter Manfrè active. After 2001 it was no longer available for film and television. After a long illness, she returned in 2015 for a documentary film and a video clip, on stage in Jean Cocteau 's La voix humaine in August .

On June 13, 1999, Cenci was elected to the City Council of Florence for the Democratici di Sinistra . In November 2001 she resigned due to illness.
