Alessandro Benvenuti (born January 31, 1950 in Pelago ) is an Italian actor , screenwriter and film director .

Life

Benvenuti appeared with Athina Cenci and Francesco Nuti as I Giancattivi since the late 1960s on cabaret stages . A decade later he played his first roles for television and in 1981 also directed a film for the first time, Ad ovest di Paperino , for which he not only wrote the screenplay and music, but also played one of the leading roles alongside his colleagues Nuti and Cenci. He received a Nastro d'Argento for this . After a second film in 1984, he concentrated again on working in front of the camera, with which he recorded and developed many themes and elements of his time with I Giancattivi until he directed a personal film with Benvenuti in casa Gori , which - for the actress Ilaria Occhini - was also awarded a Nastro d'Argento . Up until 2003, films were made regularly, mostly comedies , which were equally successful with critics and audiences.

Since then, Benvenuti has played again preferentially in films by other directors and directed some episodes of television series for television. Benvenuti was also repeatedly active in the theater throughout his career. Since 2006 he has been artistic director of the Teatro Dante di Campi Bisenzio .

Benvenuti is not to be confused with the musician of the same name .
