Ich, Chiara und der Finstere (Original title: Io, Chiara e lo scuro ) is an Italian comedy film by Maurizio Ponzi from 1982.

action

The young hotel porter Francesco, the Tuscan , is a very good pool player , but he never wins when he plays for money. Long-time Italian champion Scuro challenges him to a game he cannot refuse. In doing so, he loses a large amount of money. A little later, Francesco meets Chiara, a saxophone player. The two fall in love. To pay the lost money to Scuro, he steals the money from his employer's hotel safe. His only chance to pay off the debt is to win the Italian championship. Chiara encourages him to take part in the championship.

criticism

“A character film about passions and dependencies, the plot is reminiscent of sharks in the big city (1961) ”, notes the lexicon of international films . The Italian critics particularly praised the portrayal of the main role by Francesco Nuti.

Francesco Nuti won the Nastro d'Argento for Best Actor .

Remarks

In Italy alone the film grossed over 2.6 billion lire . Because of its great success, a sequel was produced under the title Casablanca, Casablanca (1985). Here too, Francesco Nuti and Giuliana de Sio play the leading roles.

Me, Chiara and the Dark One was released on DVD and VHS in Italian. A version with English subtitles is only available on VHS. The film is not available in a German version, although it was broadcast dubbed on German television under the title Die Revanche in the 80s.

In the film, the variant of the cone billiards is played.

The female first name Chiara stands in Italian for light and lo scuro means the dark one .
