The Mausberg is a 472 m high, wooded mountain in the north of Mausdorf in the Upper Palatinate district of Amberg-Sulzbach . The name is derived from the nearby Mausdorf, which is first mentioned in 1138 as Malistorf .
geography
It has the shape of a flattened mountain spur facing west, which is connected to the approx. 40 m higher Great Dane ridge in the east . The roof of the Mausberg is made up of fertile and calcareous layers of the Black Jura , which are continuously used for agriculture. Rhätsandstein and Feuerletten can be found on the steeply sloping slopes . The border zone to the Feuerletten is bad building ground, as there is sandy and unstable erosion debris from the steep edge. The water-bearing Feuerletten following at a shallow depth is heavily weathered in the upper layers and tends to be very wet.
location
The Mausberg is part of a ridge that forms the border of the Hahnbacher Keuperbeckens . The Mausberg is mainly forested, on its south side are the places Mausdorf and Mimbach. The Catholic pilgrimage church of Our Lady (Mausberg) on the Mausberg is worth mentioning .
