The Mousetrap and Curiosity Museum is a museum in the village of Güntersberge in the town of Harzgerode in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt . The museum building is a listed building .

The museum is located in the city center of Güntersberge on the south side of Klausstraße at the address Klausstraße 138 .

Architecture and history

It is housed in a historic farm bourgeoisie, the structure of which goes back to the second half of the 17th century. The courtyard is built in half-timbered construction. On the house of the homestead, the worked beam heads and filler wood are remarkable. The building was modernized in the 19th century. At the side of the house are two farm buildings that were built at least as early as the 18th century.

The Ackerbürgerhof is listed in the local monument register under registration number 094 84958 as a monument .

In 1991 the tenor Karl Heinz Knepper bought the building. Renovation and renovation work followed, and finally the Mousetrap and Curiosity Museum was opened in 1997. In September 2015, a fire in a neighboring supermarket spread to a courtyard building of the museum, which was damaged in the process.

The museum shows a variety of mousetraps and curiosities , such as historical kitchen utensils, toilet chairs , lingerie, enema syringes , a chamber pot collection , chastity belts and flea traps .
