Belevi Mausoleum (2000)
Lion head from Belevi in the Ephesus Museum Selçuk

The Belevi Mausoleum is a monumental ancient tomb east of the village of Belevi near ancient Ephesus in western Turkey .

The remains of the mausoleum that are still visible consist of a stone base with a circumference of approx. 30 × 30 meters and an opening on the south side in which a sarcophagus is said to have been. Parts of the pillars near the monument suggest that there was a pillared courtyard on this approximately 10-meter-high base. A griffin and a lion head, which were among the ornaments of the mausoleum, are exhibited in the Ephesus Museum Selçuk .

Dating (4th or 3rd century BC) and original grave owner are discussed in research. Have been proposed, among others, Lysimachus , a companion of Alexander the Great , the Seleucid ruler Antiochus II. (286-246 v. Chr.), The Persian satrap Autophradates , Mentor of Rhodes , brother of the commander Memnon , or Heroon for the Pastoral Pixodarus Euangelos .
