Max Michels

Max Michels (born January 16, 1874 in Stavenhagen , † August 5, 1925 in Bad Kleinen ) was a German author of the Low German language .

Max Michels was the ninth child of the Jewish master tailor Bernhardt Michels († November 16, 1888) and his wife Täube Fränkel. Max attended school in Stavenhagen and began an apprenticeship in Parchim at the age of 15 . For health reasons, he chose the town of Marnitz as his place of residence in 1896 and founded a manufacturing business here. In 1911 he ended his business activity, moved to Bad Kleinen and devoted himself exclusively to Low German writing. In 1913 he joined the Low German Guild in Schwerin .

Max Michels died of a heart attack in Bad Kleinen at the age of 51 . He was transferred to Stavenhagen and buried in the local Jewish cemetery .
