Max Neumann (painter)

Max Neumann (* 1949 in Saarbrücken ) is a German painter .

life and work

Neumann studied from 1969 to 1970 at the Werkkunstschule Saarbrücken . At the same time he was involved in the Galerie Am Neumarkt and a member of the artist group Werkstatt Koop . He then moved to the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe from 1970 to 1973 and from 1974 to 1976 at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. In 1976 he became a master student of Martin Engelman .

In 1982 he received the Charlottenburg Art Prize, in 1983 he was a winner of the BDI, in 1984 he received the Rubens Prize of the City of Siegen. In 1986 he was awarded the Villa Romana scholarship. From 1987 to 1988 he was visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. In 1991 he received the Art Prize of the Artists , Düsseldorf. In 2003 he was awarded the Iserlohn Art Prize and in 2004 the Grand Prix de SAS le Prince Rainier III (Monaco).

Max Neumann is a member of the German Association of Artists . He lives in Berlin.
