Max Schacherl
Max Gerwin Schacherl (born November 6, 1876 in Vienna ; † October 26, 1964 ) was an Austrian psychiatrist who had to emigrate during the Nazi era .
Max Schacherl studied medicine and then became an assistant at the Wagner-Jaureggs Clinic . In 1919 he received his habilitation . From 1924 to 1938 he was head of the Neurolues ward and the outpatient clinic for nervous patients at the Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Spital . After the “ Anschluss of Austria ” he had to emigrate to London as a Jew . He returned to Austria in 1946. In 1947 he became head of the outpatient clinic for nervous diseases at the Rudolfspital . From his scientific publications, the therapy of organic nervous diseases is best known.
He was buried in the arcade courtyard of the Simmering fire hall (section ARI number 156).
