Maxim Wakultschik

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maxim Wakultschik (born February 23, 1973 in Minsk ) is a Belarusian painter and object artist.

Life

At the age of eleven, Wakultschik attended the Belarusian Lyceum of the Arts, where he learned the basics of classical art for the next six years. During these years, Wakultschik became enthusiastic about German Expressionism, which is reflected in his work at the time. After a one-year stay in Düsseldorf, which he used as a guest student at the art academy, Wakultschik decided to stay in Germany. In 1992 Wakultschik began studying fine art at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Schiff and later with Kounellis. During this time he mainly created chalk, ink and watercolor drawings. From 1994, the art student's work concentrated on reliefs, sculptures and objects. Wakultschik received his academy letter in 2000 and has lived and worked as a freelance painter and object artist in Düsseldorf ever since.

Wakultschik's work deals with techniques that expand the rigid boundaries of the classical image. The artist extends his works beyond the pictorial boundaries into the object-like. The flat image in his realistic painting becomes a conceptual three-dimensional object through various techniques and materials. In addition to classic painting materials such as canvas and oil or acrylic, he also chooses wood, metal, paper and Plexiglas as materials for his work.

A major focus in Wakultschik's work are faces. These are represented as paintings, objects and reliefs. To this day, the face is a basis within whose limits the artist pursues his search for forms in various techniques.
