Maxime de Redon , actually Marquis Maxime de Redon des Chapelles (* 17 ..? In Brittany ; † 18 ..?) Was a French author, theater owner, vaudevillist and librettist .

Redon came from Brittany, but also stayed in Lectoure before coming to Paris. Redon was first a cavalry officer and only then turned to the theater. He created a considerable number of dramas between 1798 and 1811. From 1806 until the end of the restoration , he was mainly known as a vaudevillist. Between 1805 and 1807 he ran the Théâtre des jeunes Éleves with a partner .

He also came into the public eye through his political writing on the emigration and compensation of the aristocrats who fled and dispossessed during the French Revolution and the way the political industry dealt with it. The National Assembly then also dealt with this .

His play La queue de Ruy Brac , published in 1838 , a parody of Victor Hugo's , very controversial drama Ruy Blas , published in the same year caused a sensation . The subtitle was Redon's piece with a cake in five meatballs, seasoned with coarse salt, rhymes and verses .

Redon's pieces were not only played at his own, the Théâtre des jeunes Éleves, but also at the Théâtre des Jeunes-Artistes , the Théâtre forain du Luxembourg , the Théâtre Louvois , the Théâtre des Délassements-Comiques, which was briefly called Théâtre Dorsay.
