Maximilian Riba
Maximilian Riba (born June 24, 1861 in Vienna ; † July 6, 1929 there ) was an Austrian classical philologist and grammar school teacher.
Maximilian Riba initially worked as a supplent (assistant teacher) and convict prefect at the Landes-Real- und Ober-Gymnasium in Horn (Lower Austria) , later as a supplent in Kremsier (Moravia) and from 1896 at the Graben-Gymnasium in Prague-Neustadt . In 1897 he switched to the Realgymnasium in Brüx (Bohemia) as a real teacher and grammar school professor , and in 1912 to the Staats-Ober-Gymnasium in Wiener Neustadt . On September 1, 1914, he retired and moved to Vienna.
Riba devoted his retirement to scientific research, especially to Latin inscriptions. He published epigraphic essays and numerous prosopographical articles for the real encyclopedia of classical antiquity (RE).
