Maximilian Schwalb

Maximilian Schwalb (born December 7, 1864 Strasbourg in Alsace , † December 19, 1943 in Vienna ) was a German judge and ministerial official.

Life

Schwalb had been in the judiciary since 1896. In 1893 he became a magistrate. In 1904 he was promoted to the District Court Council. A year later he became a councilor in the Ministry for Alsace-Lorraine . He was employed in the Department of Justice and Culture. In 1908 he was appointed a secret government councilor, and in 1911 a ministerial councilor. In 1918 Schwalb became president of the district court and a secret senior judge. The following year he worked in the Reich Ministry of the Interior and in the Foreign Office . In 1924 he moved to the Imperial Court. He was a member of the State Court for the Protection of the Republic and the State Court for the German Reich . He was a co-reporter in the Prussia versus Reich affair . Schwalb was aware of the problem of the “attainment of Prussia”: “The abolition of the dualism between Prussia and the Reich will of course not be achieved by the ordinance after the judgment.” In 1932 he retired.
