Maximilian Unterrainer (born February 20, 1964 in Hall in Tirol ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and managing director. From 2013 to 2019 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Unterrainer attended elementary school in Hall in Tirol from 1970 to 1974 and in 1974 switched to high school in Hall in Tirol. From 1979 he continued his education at the upper secondary school in Innsbruck , where he passed the Matura in 1983 . He then did his military service between 1984 and 1985 and studied economics at the Management Center Innsbruck from 1996 to 2000. In 2002 he was awarded the academic degree Mag. (FH) .

Since 1998 Unterrainer has been the regional director of s Bausparkasse - Bausparkasse of the Austrian Sparkassen Aktiengesellschaft, and in 2003 he also took over the management of s Real Tirol - Sparkassen Real Service Tirol Realitätenvermittlungs-GesmbH. He is also an honorary shareholder representative of the Absam Immobilien GmbH community and holds various business licenses.

Politics and functions

Unterrainer has been finance and economic advisor to the SPÖ Absam since 2004 and was a member of the Absam municipal council from 1998 to 2005, where he stood for the list of mayor Arno Guggenbichler and team - SPÖ and party-independent . He was also a member of the parish council of Absam until 2005. He was elected Deputy Mayor of Absam on June 17, 2005 and in 2010 rose within the party to the position of deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ Innsbruck-Land and a member of the regional party executive of the SPÖ Tyrol . He has also been a board member of the Social Democratic Business Association since 2010. Unterrainer was the top candidate of the SPÖ Tirol in the EU parliamentary elections in 2009 and has been the European spokesman for the SPÖ Tirol since 2010.

Unterrainer stood as a candidate in the 2013 National Council election , obtained a mandate from the Tyrolean electoral district and was sworn in on October 29, 2013. After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.

Private

Unterrainer is widowed and has three children.
