May's (proper spelling: MAY'S) is a Japanese J-Pop - duo , which debuted on the Japanese music market in 2004 and is known for using the English suffix is "-ing" in the title selection of publications.

history

Maiko Katagiri and Naughty Bo-Z (proper spelling: NAUGHTY BO-Z; real name: Junichi Kawai [ 河 井 純一 ]) first met in 2002, where they studied at a music school in Tokyo . As a final thesis, they had to produce a song, which they eventually worked on together. Kawai produced and composed while Katagiri wrote and sang the song. The genre of the song is said to have been united from the tastes of the two; Katagiri liked pop and rock, while Kawai previously played hard rock in a school band but liked hip hop and R&B.

The first EP was released independently on November 30, 2005 and the first studio album also followed independently on September 13, 2006. Both releases missed the charts. Only with the title “Birth: You're the Only One Pt. 2 ”in collaboration with Cliff Edge for the group's EP“ Birth ”in December 2006, May's received some attention. The song was even released as a single in June 2007. Due to the increased demand, the duo released a collaborative EP with Cliff Edge called "Dear ..." in November of the same year. With a top placement of # 30 and a stay of 10 weeks in the Oricon charts, it was the duo's first entry into the Japanese Top 30. The attention was enough to get a record deal with Venus-B ; so they were now on a major label . With the new record deal followed a structural change, so the duo released the debut single "My Everything" on July 2nd, 2008 and entered the Oricon charts at # 28. The first studio album under the major label "Dreaming" was released on January 14th, 2009 after further singles and was even able to secure itself on # 6 of the charts in the release week. It also sold more than 45,000 times.
