Karl Heinz Bittel (born August 26, 1947 in Singen a. H. ) is a German publisher and author .

Life

Karl Heinz Bittel has lived in Munich since 1969 . He completed his training as a qualified librarian at academic libraries. In addition to the subsequent professional activity, he studied political science, history and philosophy in Munich. He broke off his studies when he became personal assistant and press spokesman for Munich's cultural advisor Jürgen Kolbe in 1984 . Together with him he wrote an extensive book about Thomas Mann and his years in Munich. From 1988 to 1999 he worked as a lecturer in a Munich publishing group and as program manager at Knaus Verlag . Bittel was Walter Kempowski's long-time editor and looked after the authors Stefan Heym , Ross King, Pascal Mercier , Lawrence Norfolk , Georg M. Oswald , Rolf Rietzler , Christa Schmidt , Christine Wunnicke and Jean Ziegler , among others . Since 1999 he has worked as a freelance editor and author.
